The past two weeks have seemed endless, and then again, I never seem to get the things done that I deem important. This blog has been a great inspiration, and a task that seems too hard. I do appreciate all that have posted warm and loving messages. I have four radiation treatments left. Then, I'll have a couple of weeks for my body to recover, and my brain synapses to reconnect. Thanks, thanks, and more thanks, to all who have posted messages, and supported me. Thanks to all of you who sent well wishes, gifts, and messages of support. You have all helped more than you will ever know.
With love,
Ellen

Dear Ellen,
Yesterday was Rosh Hashana (the Jewish New Year). During these services we sing a song about healing called Mi Shebeirach. It is a beautiful traditional prayer made popular in the Jewish Renewal movement by Debbie Friedman who translated the words into English. If you would like to hear her beautiful and healing voice singing the prayer, go to this URL:

http://www.debbiefriedman.com/Mi_Shebeirach.mp3

Right before the song, we can stand and say a name of a person we would like to bless with healing. That way the entire congregation can focus on that person or persons during the prayer and right after when there is a silent meditation. I stood and said your name yesterday. I hope you felt the love that was flowing your way.

As Debbie Friedman says it best:
We are powerful. It is hard to remember that. Sometimes life takes its turns into the unknown and presents us with challenges we would have preferred not to encounter under any circumstances. Suddenly we are confronted with our pain. It is a strange thing that pain creates beauty and potential for healing. It is hard to imagine that it can provide a foundation for beautiful moments to arise. When we are experiencing emotional discomfort, we need to find a safe place to express our grief and loss. The willingness to both offer and receive blessings of healing and well-being allows one who is wounded to transform and unravel their pain. Our pain need not bury us, instead it may elevate us to the point of healing, if we choose to allow it. - D.F.

I think I can speak for everyone who loves you when I say that we will be your safe place to express your grief and loss. Thank you for allowing us that blessing. I love you, Donna

Here's the translation of the prayer:

Mi Shebeirach

Mi shebeirach avoteinu
M'kor habracha l'imoteninu

May the source of strength who blessed the ones before us,
Help us find the courage to make our lives a blessing
And let us say: Amen.

Mi shebeirach imoteninu
M'kor habracha l'avoteinu

Bless those in need of healing with refuah sh'leimah
The renewal of body, the renewal of spirit
And let us say: Amen.

I like to give you Ellen some information; get your vit d level checked because so many people are deficient and it is easy to correct. There is some literature stating improving vit d levels help fight cancer. Also, aside from medical stuff, some miracle stuff. I met a couple who tell me the husbands Dad had surgery for stage 4 GM, same as yours, and he is disease free and vibrant 4 yrs later; he had a positive attitude and doctors he trusted. Keep up the good fight and good attitude, it counts for some much! Sandra

Hi Ellen,

Along with vit D as Sandra suggested, also megadosages of Vitamin C have been used to heal the body from cancer. From my personal experience indulging in beautiful music, love, fresh food, nature, and lots of sun also helps in the healing process. I love you guys. I am going to Florida for Thanksgiving, and I would love to come see you. Here is one of my poems from my book "Life is Beautiful And It Stinks" Enjoy!

We All Need Time

We all need time:
to taste the passionate lips of the sun pressing down on our skin.

To sit still
in the boundless ocean
of the changing wind
unbound like a speck of wind
in the company of stars
longing to make sweet
our hungry hearts of stone.

To breathe in
the endless ocean of the sea
like a drop of rain
far-reaching its bottomless darkness for the light
where only the sea lion
dares to laugh and cry.

Time to fly alone
like an owl across the moon departing from our walls of pain
towards bliss without regret.

To let the wings of love
takes us flight:
into the heavenly blue
ascending ever so deep
to drown all worldly desires
growing inside of us;
into the earthly red
descending ever so deep
to burn the river of dreams
growing inside of us.

We all need time:
to simply be.

Hey Ellen. I have great memories of all of us dancing at the Sausalito gala. I have always felt that you have a special energy that I am so glad to have met. I exercize with a bunch of spiritual women , and we had a silent prayer for your healing. We will continue to send healing thoughts to you. big hug big love, Susan O
